Why? Because it annoys me how much they’re made fun of, ridiculed and sneered at. Cosplay is seen as something for ‘freaks’, just because it involves people dressing up as their favourite fictional characters. They’re seen as easy targets, evidenced by when fitness director Jordan Burchette headed down to NYCC just to laugh at the attendees in the manner of a high school bully. Pathetic. All of this is unfair and undeserved. Furthermore, it irritates me how someone can dress up in the same gear as their favourite sportstar and people view it as perfectly acceptable, even though it’s no different than someone donning a Captain America or Daenerys Targaryen costume, which people revel in making fun of them. In my opinion, cosplayers are braver than the people who laugh at them. Expressing your love of something through costume should not be laughed at it.
